ActiveOsteopathy

Active Osteopathy is a therapeutic approach designed to promote a injury-and-pain-free life and to ensure the greatest possible resilience of the human body over the years.

In order to achieve these results, this system deepens its root into osteopathic science, motor control theory and functional anatomy.

Active Osteopathy points out the central role of the patient as an active part into the healing process, firstly by ensuring that the patient clearly understands his condition and secondly implementing correct exercises to strengthen this new condition.

The process starts with a selective anamnesis where the patient and the therapist discuss together the patient's situation, medical reports, and dysfunction history in order to gather as much information as possible.

The examination proceeds with a postural evaluation, a functional movement screen and muscle tests. The aim is to identify muscle imbalances and compensating patterns, which may be creating pain and discomfort.

Once the imbalances have been identified it is possible to apply a selection of soft tissue techniques and corrective exercises to restore new performing movement patterns (habits) which lead to a proper body alignment and a better physiological condition.

Active Osteopathy is particularly recommended for the following conditions:

Sciatica

Lower back pain

Post and Pre Pregnancy

Headaches

Neck and shoulders pain

Foot, ankles and leg injuries

Plantar fasciitis

Sport related injuries

Whiplash

Trauma recovery.
